Ok, so after deleting the last post (which I did regret later, hehe, but oh well...it's gone now) I have had so many ideas for blog posts. But know what? I must learn instead. Stupid me, leaving all the important things to the last minute! Just when I sat down to write a post, I discovered there's a test in German tomorrow!
So, I'll just leave you with some German music and continue studying my "Deutsch" . :) (Yeah, I know, I told there'll be no music-talk on other days than Mondays. Let's just make an exeption, shall we? :) )
Isn't it just adorable? And the language... Love the language!
The last one is from the 60's. Don't you just love her hair?
Ok, back to study, I guess!
I haven't been blogging for a few days now so I thought I should post something besides music-related stuff too :)
Well... there actually has been nothing blog-worthy, I guess. Still getting used to going to university. And I like it more with each day, actually! Sociology is something I really am interested in and most of the (introducing ) stuff we learn are somehow related to it, so nothing to complain about. I love the fact that in uni you learn what you want to learn (mostly). No more math, haha! :) German class is a bit difficult, because I've forgotten A LOT of that beautiful language. And I get loads of homework too. But I still like it :)
The people are also mostly quite nice and interesting and I guess I really am more used to them now, because I don't feel like I'm stared at that much any more and have made some new acquaintances already. Yay.
I wanted to show my refashioned cardigan, which I made after being inspired by a lovely post in Casey's Elegant Musings. Link to the post itself can be found HERE.
I'm not too good at sewing, but I did my best and it didn't turn out too bad. I used a quite an ordinary cardigan, which didn't fit too well. And ... it was boring. About mid-hip and long-sleeved and...
Not only closed eyes, but also MESSY bangs. It was so windy!
Well, I met a friend on Friday and I thought I'd let her take a couple of pictures. Naaaah, didn't work. This is basically the "best" picture I got of the "new" cardi (yes, my eyes are closed :D ):
Not that this one is any better :D
So....guess you can't really see it properly. At least now I've shown some really awkward shots of myself to the whole world (basically). Hehe.
The thing is, I love to sew. As I told, I'm not really good at that, but I'm trying. So I'm always very proud if I (re-)make something relmotely wearable :) I hope this one's ok.
All for today or actually, tonight. It's 22.30 and I'm tired.
Hi! Guess it's time for another Music Monday. I know, I know, it's so unoriginal, but it seems to work for me, having some sort of a system :) And "Music Monday" sounds much better than "Music Thursday" (or other days, hehe). Anyway...
Dear Reader, whoever you are! Do you like rockabilly music? If so, let me introduce you to a great (young) band from Estonia: Rockin' Lady & Her Rivertown Boys.
Rockin’ Lady and her Rivertown Boys is a band from Estonia that plays old-school rockabilly music. We try to do it like it was done in 50’s, but we have slight influences from blues, country, swing, neo-rockabilly, twist and surf. The main goal is to play and sing the music from world-famous rockabilly ladies and to live and promote rockabilly lifestyle.
(from their website)
What can I add?`They mostly play good, clean old-school rockabilly style with nice female vocals and a beat that will make you dance. And dance. And dance. :)

The band consists of 5 members: Ermo on lead guitar (and backing vocals), Andero on saxophone (and rhythm guitar and backing vocals, depending on the song), Tõnu on Drums, Remo on double bass and ever-so-beautiful lead singer Jaanika aka Rockin' Lady. HERE you can take a look on them all if you're interested and also read the band bio.
UPDATE: Just found out, there's a new drummer now, named Reeno Sopp. I haven't heard the band with the new drummer yet, so nothing more to add, but it's quite exciting though. There actually should be a new sound as well, but I believe it'll be even better.
They're quite new in music world (the band was created about 3 years ago), but already quite successful and I can not hide I'm really happy for them, because I think they really are worth it.
Hear for yourself:
"Black Cadillac" was their first single, but at the moment the band has released an EP, which you can order on the band's website.
You can also listen to track samples here and on their Myspace page. The songs released are all covers, but I'm pretty sure there are/will be also original songs later. With a full-lenght album coming up, I'm pretty sure there's a lot to look forward to! :) Plus, I don't really think covering old hits is a bad thing. You just have to do it properly, and with passion, otherwise it could sound quite "off" - can't explain, but I have heard also some god-awful covers in my life, trust me on this one! ;) I don't think this band is anyhting like those. They actually know what they're doing.
One more song:
Valga Cruising 2011, by Valev Nielson.
(This video is actually about an event called Vintage Tallinn 3, sort of a vintage fair taking place in Tallinn. Vol. 4 is soon to take place and I can't wait :) But the song in the video is "Mercy" performed by Rockin' Lady and Her Rivertown Boys. You can also see the band in the video and small overview of the event as well. Not a bad thing or is it? )
So, go give these guys a listen and I hope you'll find them awesome too :)
